Utter Crap Drops on Iron Man Mage

Is there a way to post a ladder dump to a game in progress? I'd like to show how pathetic this toon is in full...

Best items at DEPTH 37 are a Flail of Westernness +1/+2, Hard Leather of Resistance, and a Wand of Lightning Balls... currently have no staves of teleport and only one wand of teleport other. Good spell books but that's it. The only Randart to drop so far was a weapon so lame not even an upgrade to my Flail.

This has happened on iron man runs before where the drops suck and you finally end up too deep to fight anything and no stealth... bleh!

pardon my ignorance, but that seems pretty standard for randarts. soon you will start getting showered with them, so that balances out.

You can create a character dump for an in-progress game by opening the 'C' character screen and pressing 'f' for file.

@Sky, We shall see... artifacts aren't really the issue, this mage lacks protection from blindness and fear and without those in the late 30's depth he is constantly being blinded, feared... not too mention stuns are becoming more frequent. His store of early consumables are just about gone. Maybe we'll see good drops later but how to survive until then?

@Nomad, thanks! Forgot where that was. Check out the Ring of the Mouse... at -7 damage yet +4 agility he actually does more damage wearing it. It's stealth is the only thing keeping him alive...

Or more precisely, navigate towards high value targets. About all you can ask for by dl 40 is rbase, SI and FA. So you are pretty much on the usual power curve. (Though you'd do better with a Defender, which opens up the amulet slot for something better than "regen.)

For blindness, you'll find a lantern of seeing soon enough. Stunning protection is rare, so you'd do better to plan on avoiding it. If you are running low on healing, there are rods and staffs of curing, which are useful only in ironman.

Yeah, your gear is very standard for your depth. You need to engage with your enemies more tactically. You shouldn't be in melee against the vast majority of enemies, engage hounds in a setup where only one or two can see you at a time, etc. Hoard all the Cure Serious/Critical Wounds potions you find, since they can clear status ailments. !Heroism can also cure fear but that shouldn't be as much of a problem for you.

Wands of Fire/Acid bolts are helpful at this depth for dealing additional damage without cutting into your SP pool. A good bow or crossbow can also help.

Thank you, more experienced players, for reminding me how the game plays out when you can't easily ditch a level to search for vaults or recall to town and check out the shops and black market.

My previous Iron Mage run had some good luck early on and that clearly spoiled me. This run is more typical and... still going!
