After relying on a (+9, +9) whip of extra attacks (+2), I finally found a weapon worth replacing it with... Got a decent randart weapon finally...

    a) the Trident of Nielf (1d10) (+12,+27) [+17] <+3>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 2100 feet (level 42)

    +3 wisdom.
    Slays dragons, undead (powerfully).
Branded with weak lightning, weak acid.
Provides resistance to frost, dark, nexus.
Cannot be harmed by acid, fire.
Blessed by the gods. Prevents paralysis. Grants the ability to
    see invisible things.

    Combat info:
    4.5 blows/round.
With +0 STR and +1 DEX you would get 4.7 blows
Average damage/round: 340.5 vs. creatures not resistant to
lightning, 340.5 vs. creatures not resistant to acid, 366.3 vs.
dragons, 419 vs. undead, and 314.1 vs. others.

Been moving down, and really have not found much spectacular lately, until I made it to dl67 and found this:

        g) the Chain Mail of Geleme (-2) [32,+14] <+2>
Dropped by Itangast the Fire Drake at 3200 feet (level 64)

        +2 strength.
        +2 constitution.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, frost, dark, sound,
        shards, disenchantment.
        Provides protection from stunning.
        Cannot be harmed by acid.
        Sustains strength.
        Slows your metabolism.

When activated, it deals 120 damage to all creatures that you can
        see.
Takes 234 to 286 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 89.9%

Well, all WAS going well until I fought Osse... I thought that I would be ok when he breathed nether on me, resisting nether and all...

But, I was so very, very wrong.

I think a big part of the difficulty that I was having probably came of me not having enough speed at that level. +6 just isn't enough.

Yea. Very nasty at times. Usually I skip levels with Osse until being really powerful

Doing my post run look through the spoilers... there were a couple of things that really stood out...

Well, I have not had the most success at trying to win with a D-Pal using random artifacts. So... I think that the time has come to resort to utilizing standarts. Onward, with the birth of... Dolan the 3rd.

Insane artifacts. I wish I coulda warned ya about Ossë. He is on my short list of Uniques to avoid throughout the game. These days I generally don't fight him at all. Killing him is not worth the soul rending that he is prone to do.

In my new, standart game... I am off to a good start. I got lucky and found a ring of accuracy (+15,+0) on dl1, and a maul of slay undead (+5,+6) and ring of resist poison at dl5.

Progressing fairly rapidly (down to dl16), found a holy avenger whip, and a -TO in the black market that I could barely afford.

And on dl18, I killed Brodda, who dropped Mundwine... Not as useful as the holy avenger whip I am currently wielding right now... But once I get the strength and dex for some more attacks with it...

Mundwine is okay. Hopefully you will find something even better by the time you have the STR/DEX to wield Mundwine.

I still haven't decided if I am going to take on the Winged Horror, or try to ?phase. If I take it on, I will most definitely be banishing the Undead Beholder. Problem is, if I ?Phase the wrong way, I still have to successfully escape the level with my only escape being WoR. So it's very dicey.

Agreed. Almost a bit dissapointing, finding it so early, when I already have a weapon that is allowing me to do plenty of damage.

And yeah, winged horrors are definitely scary, as are undead beholders and all of the fun that they bring along. I always try to have some means of full tele in addition to just my phasing.
