Mod with MoD swap is pretty extreme. That's a whole lotta weight, just for slay evil and demons.

Its still pretty worth for the swap. If the target is just "evil" the holy avenger is giving me a boost of nearly 200 damage per turn (196). Still sitting at +19 to speed and have plenty of pots to augment that. Its also been replaced with a scythe of slicing since that post so I'm missing almost half the weight.

        Sauron falls.
Morgoth kicks the ever living crap out of me. Actually, his summons did. Could not find any hold life and all the greater undead summons just were too much. even with 2 mass banishment and 3 dispel undead I was getting hit way too hard and couldn't heal through it.

        Oh well.
Still was a fun run. With all the insanely powerful MOD BOC and SOS that I was finding the damage numbers were into the 1000s but if you have no armor and missing a key resist it doesn't really help you that much. That's playing with randarts though. Sometimes the really come through other times they really let you down.

Starting a HE Warrior. Grotung talks about them enough I'm gonna see what he's on about

Ouch! Yeah, I think that I would have had to hang out around Dlvl 98-99 for a while until I got a set that I was comfortable with that last fight.

Playing with forced decent on this @. I had found a cloak that would give me hold life but I would lose res conf, nether, and my hold cons.

Yep. Forced descent would definitely do the trick. lol

1-9 early on is often something lame like a book you don't need.

When Morgoth's summons get out of control I simply teleport away. This works well because Morgoth moves faster than everyone else, and most summons will not pursue you after you teleport away the way Morgoth will, so it buys you some time to heal up and fight him a-fresh.

I usually teleport away from M's out of hand summons about 3 times during the final fight.

True true. That was the farthest I have ever made it on a randart/forced decent game.

OK so I said HE Warrior but I accidentally chose a Dunadan. Meh, I'm still ok with that but it bothers me a little that I didn't notice until I was LVL 19.

So far so good. No really good armor pickups but I have found 2 thancs and Forasgil. Got +2 speed from some boots I bought so not great but just a little speed boots at this level is helping.

Question for the numbers guys (I just play by feel for the most part, not really sure about the maths) trying to decide between robes of resistance or a PPA, and I really don't know if the MUCH higher AC is better than the resistance.

Chcknflylice: I still don't know the answer to that question. Seems half the time I go with Resistance and the other half I go with the PPA. I suppose it also depends on my depth and my current AC. The lower my depth, the more the correct choice is PPA. The deeper you are, the more correct choice moves to the Robe. If my AC is really low and I'm DL30 and I have decent CON I might take the PPA. But if my AC is already good, and I have no base resistances, then the robe may be the way to go. I guess by around DL36 you really want to have the base resistances. I'd say if I was DL34 or deeper I would definitely pick the Robe if I have no other base resists.

That seems like the right answer. I am still pretty low in the dungeon and at this point nothing is really hitting hard with the base elements. Doubling my AC seemed the way to go at this point.

So Noreth Sr. dies to my 5 year old (let her move the keys around and [of course] she doesn't stop when I tell her to) trying to kill a ghoul without FA. Letting her play and trying to learn is more important than living though.

Noreth Jr. is a lucky boy however. After the hardest fought DL11 1-8 feeling (Lagduf, Brodda, and Wormtongue) we find an amulet of ESP <+6>! Talk about out of depth. It was surrounded by traps as well but get even more lucky and dodged a trap door.

I am certain to die soon....

I found a crown of the Magi with Telepathy very early once (DL12 maybe?) and crash dove to my death. I thought I could easily take an Ogre Chieftain and he let me know differently.

Maybe create an @ just for your 5 year old to start out with so that your promising Noreth Jr. doth not fulfill your prophecy?

Hah yes.... that is probably what I will have to do considering thinds are actually going quite well.

Cleared first medium vault last night with YMH Dragon inside. Having no basic elemental resists except cold, I decided that the risk wasn't worth it. But after finding a LMS of Res and a set of artifact boots (with telepathy ) I felt that I had the right equipment to take it on. Vault yielded nothing that I could equip but I will take a potion of augmentation and 2 STR potions.

Fairly OOD at this point and hoping my risk will be rewarded soon with either some speed or an ego weapon. Using a MG of Slay Demon atm and its hitting hard but with my Str and Dex getting higher the extra blows I will start getting soon with heavier weapons will start to close that gap. I'm thinking..... a nice branded randart or something of gondolin or west (with some nice stat augmentation or resists) would be really nice.

Well... no ego weapons but I have found 2 artifact weapons..... with no resists, slays, stat augmentation, +s, or even a good activation. Using a dagger of extra attacks (+1+5) <+1> but being a warrior at DL43 only doing 135 dpt isn't going to cut it. I think I'm getting close to the end of its usefulness.
