Eh, I'd rather get say a Longbow of Power any day. 2 or 3 shots with that is equal to 1 shot with the DSM, and you get a lot more than 1 shot at a time. Now if he dropped higher DSM, that'd be nice. Early MHDSM is hard to beat.

Are yes, but can you take out 10+ Snaga and a sizeable chunk of Lagduf and Grishnakh's health in one turn with that bow?

Early DSM can easily carry you through to 1000' on its own; you don't tend to run into large groups of enemies before then and the DSM activation recharges frequently. Even when it can't kill your target outright, it'll usually do enough damage that you can take said target out without much effort.

That's easy. I was playing ironman PernMAngband 15 years ago with a goof char (yeek unbeliever) and I just wanted to see how far I could go. Then I met Wormy really really early (300ft or so) and he dropped an insane randart Dark Sword with something obscene like +4 attacks, speed, stats, bunch of resists, 50% antimagic... Managed to actually win the game with that character.
