What else do I need before endgame?

I've been playing Angband off and on ever since I got hold of Moria as kid, but I've never had a winner.

Recently picked it back up and started a Half-Troll Warrior who got lucky with speed and damage drops.

I think I've dropped most of the big uniques, and really should be able to handle the endgame, but I'd like to hear from players who have more experience if I should stock up on more consumables or patch any missing resistance holes before I do?

You are ready; the one thing I would do is to replace the speed ring with a damage ring and maintain speed buff during the fight. That will put you at ~37 speed, which is still plenty over the needed +30.

Oh, and replace the staves of teleportation with a few scrolls of same, as well as bring a full stack of 40 ?phase to the fight.

Thanks for the advice -- I just got my first winner, and with a Half-Troll Warrior of all things.

If you expected a half-troll warrior to be a challenge class, I have some bad news for you.

        Congrats on the victory!

I play Rangers when I'm trying to play the "right" way, with stealth and ranged combat.

I typically play HT Warriors when I pick the game back up after a break (in this case, a couple of years) because it's fun to just run indiscriminately through the dungeon until death. Except this time I didn't die.
