Level 31 Mage, which armor to use???

I am having a lot of difficulty choosing which set of armor to use. I keep coming back to Hitholmir due to the +3 stealth.

I have a defender sword which gives Prevent Paralysis and 2 stealth.

I am also having trouble choosing between Boots of Speed +5 and Boots of Stability (resist Nexus).

I don't think my STR ishigh enough yet to wear the partial plate....

Would you trade 3 Stealth and Nether Resist for Shard and Nexus Resist? (I have Dark resist from a crown...)

    Here are my Armor choices:

    - The Soft Leather Armour 'Hithlomir' 10 +20 - resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, dark, nether. Also gives +3 Stealth.
    - Partial Plate Armour of Elvenkind (-3) [40,+17] <+1> - resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, chaos. Also gives +1 Stealth
    - Chain Mail of Arvedui (-2) [40,+15] <+2> - resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, shards, nexus. Also gives +2 Str
    - Blue Dragon Scale Mail (Dwarven) (-2) [12,+29] <+2> - resistance to lightning. Prevents Paralysis

    Here is my resist profile:
    rAcid:+...+.+.+.... Nexus:.............
    rElec:+.....+.+.... Nethr:......+......
    rFire:+.....+.+.... Chaos:.............
    rCold:+.....+.+.... Disen:........+....

    rDark:......+..+... pBlnd:.........+...

    Regen:+............ Speed:...........+.

    Invis:+........+... Shots:.............
    FrAct:+............ Might:.............

You need Free Action. You also need as much speed as you can reasonably get (up to +20 at least). After that, you need basic resists and poison (which you have covered), and as many stat boosts as you can get. Nether, nexus, shards, etc. resists are all optional, in particular because the really big breathers will kill you outright even if you resist the element, because you're a puny little mage with no HP.

In short, wear Arvedui (for the +2 STR alone) and the Boots of Speed.

Speed makes you better at literally everything you do. It is very hard to have too much speed. I mean, your goal for the endgame is to get at least +30, so that Morgoth can't double-move you. More than that is maybe not that helpful, due to diminishing returns. But you need at least that much.

      Thanks Derakon.

Erissa the II is posted on the ladder. Any other suggestions besides wearing the chain mail?

One thing I will be changing is the ring of light. I only recently got the crown of light/dark and I intend to swap the light ring back out for my +3 int ring.

        re: what to do

I would slightly disagree to Derakon's suggestions. Of course it is a matter of taste to some extent.

The melee weapon gives you already Basic resistance and freeaction + seeinvis. With the ring of resist poison you are not so bad equipped for '2000.

I would put on the red Dragon scale male. At your Level i assume you fight Young and Major Dragons, or already ancient too? Ancient have +10 Speed and 600 health - so you Need at least Speed 10 (better 20) and a good Punch.

The red Dragon scale male can breath for 200 (or was it 250) breath damage. That is almost 3 times the damage your acid bolt currently does. So wear the red Dragon scale male and initiate every combat with a fire breath.

Furthermore i would wear 1 ring of escaping in Exchange for the ring of light. +4 Speed brings you almos to +10 Speed. With that you can risk to take on ancient Dragons.

And Keep the boots of stability in your inventory and not at home. If a Nexus vortex Shows up you should be able to swap boots.

        Just my 2 Cents, cheers
        Blondes are more fun!

Keep in mind that the 30-speed figure that Derakon mentions is including temporary sources of haste, which give +10.

edit: And not accidentally losing temporary speed in the fight vs Morgoth is very important. Especially beware of his brain smashing attack, in addition to the possibility of your buff wearing off.

As long as you don't have your stats maxed and don't have perfect saving throw nexus is very valuable. Unless you plan to avoid nexus hounds/vortices at all costs. Stat scrambling can ruin your game. It doesn't kill you, but it makes adventuring a lot harder.

It's still not worth losing +5 speed especially when you have no other permanent speed sources. Carry the Stability boots as a swap, sure, but they aren't your primary equipment. Hardly anything uses nexus attacks.

Arvedui gives nexus resist. No need for stability boots if he uses that.
