Foreshadowing of a YASD

So I'm playing the current 3.5.1 no artifact competition run. RNJesus has been kind enough to allow me to survive through numerous risky plays, but unfortunately the tax I have to pay is a complete and utter lack of potions of constitution. Dlvl 76 and I have found precisely 1 con potion.

Take a look at this screenshot. At this point with so few levels to go before the end, I'm gonna have to risk it for the biscuit. I have to assume there's some constitution in there, assuming I can live to get them.

YASD -1, if you just keep yourself out of LoS of all the really nasty inhabitants of that vault. Looking at the picture I counted 9 instakillers at your HP (probably more, but those 9 go clearly over your HP in single shot), but I guess most of them are behind vault walls. Problem are those two Reavers, they open up the vault for rest of them to kill you if you don't somehow get rid of them before entering it (or they kill you if no-one else does it first, both are single-shot killers). Banishment if you can.

Fighting Pazuzu and Ossë you have no chance whatsoever at this point of the game, so you have to find some other way to deal with them. Pazuzu is too fast and Ossë just plain kills you as soon as it gets LoS to you.

You could try opening the section where they are with stone to mud from safe position, luring them out of the vault and then use *destruct*.

Just be very very careful with LoS.

I would go for it. You have enough TO charges to get rid of anything that's dangerous. And you have a banishment scroll you can use on D or L if needed. Seeing your character sheet, anything else would be promptly killed in melee or with missiles.

On a side note, it's strange you don't have !enlightenment ready for such levels. With my character, I had over 25 at DL75, meaning I could quaff one per level till the end.

Yeah I have found a shockingly low number of enlightenment potions. Those that I've found have either been used or destroyed. There has only been one that I passed on, which was on the dlvl previous to this one. There was only 1 on the ground, and I wasn't willing to drop anything to pick it up. Then I go down the stairs and found that vault - go figure. It ended up being just fine, since an enlightenment potion dropped from a multi-hued dragon pit that I cleared before attempting the vault.

I didn't have enough time to clear the whole thing before going to bed, but I did manage to get inside and found quite a few stat potions. When I first entered the vault I found a staff of banishment which I used to get rid of the L's, Z's (there were a group of Impact hounds near my precious con potions and didn't want to risk it getting shattered), and D's. I ported away any uniques I found and just started looting. Fortunately that vault layout is pretty safe, since it is easy to make sure you're only ever in LOS of 1 thing at a time.

Between the amhd pit and that vault I found myself 5 potions of con, and a handful of others. That con boost was huge. It hasn't done wonders for my HP pool yet, but now I'm only a couple of con away from making a big jump. There may be hope yet!
