    [YAFWP] Olgu'Kor Half-troll Priest

I'm so glad to have finally beaten Morgoth!

Special thanks to Derakon, fizzix, MattB and everyone else in this community for the great advice and for maintaining this epic game.

Turned out I had way more consumables than I needed, although I started to run low on Banishment & Mass Banishment scrolls toward the end of the battle. I killed almost all the uniques beforehand, and that really helped I think.

Now, what class to try next?? I'm considering a mage, but maybe a ranger or paladin.

    Keep up the great work!

Rogues are the best. Play one!

If you want a different kind of beast, try hT mage... it will be tough going for most of game, but in the end those are insane: regen for sp, and huge hp pool

          Congrats on your win!

My recommendations would definitely be rogue or mage. I personally have the most fun playing the mage. I find them to be very rewarding due to their weak early game, but absolutely devastating late game. I enjoy playing gnome mages, since they get bonuses to devices which are a large source of their damage. For rogues I like to play kobolds for their strong stealth and poison resist.

Now we just need people to recommend paladin, ranger, and warrior, and we'll have suggested every class

Can you explain the benefit to using devices as a mage?

When using attack devices, you get a damage boost of (device skill - level of device)%. Mages have the highest device skill out of all classes, so they benefit significantly more from this. Wands of Annihilation are a fantastic endgame resource for them with higher DPS than Mana Storm (as long as the charges last, anyway, but they can recharge during breaks in the battle). And throughout the game they'll find wands to be a helpful boost to their attack spells, especially during that slump before they get Raal's.

Unfortunately game UI doesn't give any hint about this and shows everyone the default damage before that adjustment. I think next version of the game fixes this.

What's a typical effective boost in % for an end-game mage? I don't know what the item or skill levels are.

Skill value you can see from character screen. Item you basically just have to know (by looking at object.txt).

I don't usually play mages and don't rely on items, so I don't know what would be "typical" for mage.

Already on cLevel 44 with intelligence 18/*** my first winner has magic device 132. This gives 82% bonus damage for the wand of drain life, and 72% for the wand of annihilation.
