Any interest in a collaborative game?

An idea given to me by the recent roguelike radio episode.

The goal is to alternate play on a character, each taking charge for some set number of levels and then passing the savefile off to the next person. Darren Grey described this as a competition in ADOM, but I think a joint game where we all try our best to win would be more fun (at least as a first go.)

The game would probably have to be in ironman mode, although we could theoretically play on any variant that supports that. The number of levels you get on your turn would depend on the number of people who are interested.

If four or more people are interested, I can lay down the ground rules and start up a character on V3.4. Unless someone has a strong desire for a specific variant, in which case, I'll go along with that.

I'll play. I'm ok playing vanilla, or any other variant, though I'm no pro at ironman. I haven't played it yet, but Sangband sounds like it could be fun for this, with the emphasis on character development. Though if it's like O, playing ironman would be brutal.

As an aside, I'll mention the collaborative stuff we have in crawl. All of the servers have roundrobin accounts, which are quite freeform. Some are normal open accounts for anyone to play, some are open accounts specifically for weird challenge games, there are a few closed accounts for a clique to play together and a fair few people simply let others play on their account for fun.

In ##crawl, we also have a roundrobin style tournament dubbed "dieselrobin" inspired by the ADOM things, it consists of a few teams of 3-4 players each rotating turns on 3-4 characters. Each turn consists of completing a mission, which is generally completing a branch. We keep track of it all through google docs spreadsheets and via IRC. See http://dieselrobin.org/rules/ if you're interested in the details.

Would be nice. By the way, you should check this: http://www.mangband.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1885

My variant allows ironman and being an online variant, you have the character stored on the server, so it's easy to switch from player to player. Of course, I don't know how many people here have played my variant (or are used to real-time Angband), so it's just a suggestion...

Of course chosing my variant means you can do more than a collaborative game... you can start a party and do multiplayer if people are interested in playing simultaneously.
