In the corridors at the door can sometimes hounds to use potions but spikes will and then it is good often when you are in the dungeon to have with you in your inventory and when you do to remember make sure in case you need on the stairs and always with uniques to drink unless the damage by the potions but always avoid the with the long fight in corridor to remember to keep an eye out for the when you are in troubles to consider all the other stuff then you will not die!

Anyway --- I couldn't quite understand what happened to your character, but I wish you better luck next time. And congrats on your first dump!

Hounds are tricky tactically, and you had bad luck to see fire hounds at dl 13.

In any case, 7K turns/dungeon level is pretty efficient play. You will be at 1500' and in stat gain in no time.

      Pointers:

Carry CCW/CSW. If you run out, recall immediately.

And stay away from monsters that destroy your equipment and inventory. Fire Hounds are extremely bad news if you only have 1 scroll of recall, and your armor class is essentially 0 from fighting too many acid creatures. (What happened to the chain mail?)

Try a High-Elf Warrior. You'll get 4 blows with 16/16/16 distribution, and generous shopkeepers. Don't worry about character level; it's not as important as character power.

          STR,DEX,CON.
With low DEX, you can't get above 3 blows for a long time. (CON doesn't actually matter much until you reach stat gain.)

You can sell the chainmail, but not if you are planning on fighting a lot of monsters. If you are really picking your fights and you use a lot of archery, AC isn't so important.

At your depth the most common method is to quaff potions which restore stats. Look in the Alchemist's store in town, they usually cost about 400 AU each (depending on CHR) although they don't always stock the specific ones you need.
There are other items (such as mushrooms of restoring and statgain potions) which will also repair damaged stats but these are unlikely to turn up until you are considerably deeper.

You need to search chests for traps, then disarm them. Most have traps. Anyway, they are hardly worth opening, at least in V.

Buy a Potion of Restore Strength in the alchemist, since it will give you 4 blows. Being down by 1 CON doesn't make much difference until much later in the game--buying a staff of teleportation or enchanting a longbow is more important.

And lucky you, for finding an artifact dagger so early! Those things are fantastic finds for a melee character.

should explain how to change them back.

Since I normally play on a mac (which has by default has #s and %s), I'm used to it - and every time I play on a PC I can't stand the walls. I find the font in general on the windows port uglier.

brigadine armor to too heavy to be worth it unless it's a good ego and you've got high STR. wait till you find ego armor in the dungeon.

indeed, that is what I said. If it's just resist an element then resist acid is best cause then it can't be damaged, but what you really want is resistance or elvenkind.

I disagree with this. Acid Resistance is the least important of the basic 4; Fire resistance is the most important because
                                a) there are more fire breathers
                                b) Hellhounds are lethal without resistance.

Acid damage is cut in half if it hits a slot with armor. (Armor either damaged, or resisting damage.) And it is crazy to fight acid-damage monsters anyway, because they are so hard on your equipment and inventory, including any swap weapons

So if I'm stuck with Armor of Resistance, I go with Fire & cold first, and use an amulet of resist lightning for electricity. That covers the 'basic 3', without wasting any ring slots.
