I just found a Ring of Speed (+5) at DL10. That's 500'. Even with autoscum, that's a holy shit moment.

Had an early DaJAngband game (long before making it public) where I found boots of speed (I think they were +11 -something very good like that). I went on to have one of my best ever games getting to level 50 something before I put it on the shelf to try to win vanilla first because some people were saying it would be a better win if I win vaniila before winning in a modified version. So before I get around to finishing my great game I make changes in the code and/or the .txt files which made the savefile obsolete.Will_Asher

I had a rogue who gained Boots of Speed (+9) by killing cave orcs at about 350' once upon a time. Then Bullroarer dropped a weapon of extra attacks. And Wormtongue gave me Thengel.
The point is: none of these did me any good when I stepped on a paralysis trap while fighting Ufthak.
