    Let's be careful not to confuse utility (which we call "object power") with gp cost. Cost is proportional to the square of power, so one +10 item will indeed cost far more than ten +1 items. But the utility of each point of speed is the same (as are those of other pvals). My original position on speed was closer to yours (except that it's not exponential because diminishing returns kick in after a certain point). I can no longer remember the details of the debate with Eddie (though they are preserved in previous threads), but it's a lot simpler to use linear power ratings for pvals.

    I've just doubled the power value of speed in v4 (i.e. quadrupled the prices), so it's now closer to your view that +5 speed beats all high resists combined.
