    [3.2.0] My first win

Been playing off and on for fifteen years. Had one winner in Z back in the day.

Honestly, I barely ever felt threatened with this character. I think I got less than 10% hp twice. Sauron summoned vecna and tarrasque on me before I could get a tunnel dug, and I thought that would screw me on that attempt, but I teleported away and was able to get them all three seperated.

I feel like I got pretty lucky, being able to stack all four immunities with good speed and having a decent stock of *Healing*/life/banishment. I basically yawned Morgoth to death (ok, not really, but it sounds good). He didn't summon any of the uniques I didnt kill (which wasn't many).

Also notice I killed Gothmog on level 67...lol. I didnt realize how out of depth he was until later.

Had alot of fun with this version of Angband. Didn't realize 3.3 was out until today... oh well.

    Congratulations!

Covering all the immunities and resists is pretty lucky/impressive.

What I find impressive is that he didn't get killed in last fight with only +24 speed. Any double-move from Morgoth could have killed him.

Congrats for victory, but in next time use that RoS +15 instead of one of the elven rings.

What could he have done in his double move to do 800+ damage in one turn? Just curious, I really don't know.

Manastorm twice: 1200 points of damage. No resist.

More generally, IIRC Morgoth's manastorm deals 500 + 10d10 damage. That's still a minimum sufficient to kill all but the more burly warrior-types flat out.

              550 average, 1100 double average.

I think only Dwarf and Half-Troll warriors can exceed 1100 HP at the end with maxed CON. Maybe with luck H-Troll rogue/paladin/ranger might get the same.

Other, more likely way how Morgoth ruins your day with double-move is by summoning something very nasty and then manastorming you leaving you with too few HP left to do mass-banish with fear of second-round manastorm, and too many heavy breathers to deal with teleporting Morgoth out of the way. You are not dead yet, but fight just become a lot harder at that point.

At this point I need to point out that Morgoth can do over 400 points of damage in melee (earthquake crush), so bad case of melee + manastorm also easily leads to death.

Also without perfect saving M might get a succesful brain smash thru which slows you down, in which case anything less than +30 speed leads you to speed that is slower than many of the Morgoths summons. That's extremely dangerous situation.

It is just safer to be as fast or faster than Morgoth at the endgame even if it means a bit less damage there. Immunities and resists have practically no use against Morgoth itself, you could basically go naked against him if you could get rid of all summons as soon as they appear, so it is very different fight at the endgame than it is against anything else in the dungeon. Perfect set of immunities helps a lot against summons though.
