Me too, but the last Phial I got activated for mass banishment which was cool until I used it next to a vault

When to kill wormtongue is a strategic decision. Killing him when he first starts to appear (DL8-10), if the player is able to, limits his potential to drop an artifact. Waiting and killing him later (after DL15, preferably after DL20) seems to almost guarantee an artifact. I tend to wait, but he is a fun challenge at DL8-10 and close to being a pushover by DL20.

Problem with waiting is that getting an artifact then might not be any better than getting an good ego earlier. And you might still get just a sword of slay orc.

I prefer killing early, because early good ego-item when you don't yet have much anything usually helps more than Yet Another Artifact later.

Usually I tend to avoid early uniques, but not with a warrior. Those want the Phial asap and any unique is a good shot at getting it. Other classes are happy with a lantern of everburning eventually, and there have been games where I have found one of the two big lights - Arkenstone or Palantir - before the Phial. For an early warrior, Phial means two more inventory slots: no oil, no rods of illumination.

That's quite a serious bug - you don't happen to have the randart.log file from that randart set, do you?

I don't think so but it was a 3.2 savefile playing 3.3, there were a couple other issues too, like after I died I started up the savefile again and I was alive at the beginning of the level I died on. If I have it it's on my other computer, I'll check Monday.

Teehee, thanks. I'm on DL75 with this character and still using it, although I occasionally swap to a randart mace for fire immunity.

I'm kind of hoping to be able to put it through Morgoth's black heart, then take it home and mount it over the mantel.

Good luck on a side note wormtongue just dropped a Law Dragon scale mail of resistance on level 10 for my warrior lol he's breathing shards/sound for 250 damage. Gonna see a tombstone soon I'm sure.
