    RNG feeling sorry?

I recently got killed by frustration of getting CGV and getting only cr*p.

Next char has been extremely lucky. Copy & Paste few messages from dev-forum where I bitch about "8" block not producing excellent items:

    -----

Apparently RNG is feeling sorry for that [crappy items in CGV].

First Smeagol drops Broadsword of flame (3d5) (+8,+9), then at the 400' I find Thalkettoth which made early levels easy, then close to stat-gain I get Dal-i-Thalion from Ufthack which put me at speed +8. Can't dive fast enough.

Then at the stat-gain bought a stack of deep descent from BM and dived like crazy with them.

"looks like any other level" -hmmm what's that, there are a lot of monsters there. Looks like a vault (it is, LV with bunch of pushovers).

Identifying jeweled crown: telepathy! Finally I can use something else than (blessed) as main weapon.
Identifying chain mail: Rohirrim. Great! now to find some decent weapon
Identifying long sword: Ringil. My second artifact weapon is fracking Ringil! First was *thanc of some sort, which didn't beat that broadsword Smeagol gave me.

I have found it before quite a few times, but never at the situation where I was still using low-level ego-weapons as main weapon.

[EDIT] I mean I haven't even seen Westernesse or HA yet, and only one +1 extra blows which was weaker than that flame broadsword.

    ------

Extreme luck continues. The very next level I get "good feeling" and see BlueDSM just before taking downstairs. BlueDSM of Speed (+9).

...and next Cambeleg and Isildur from ordinary Ancient Red Dragon drop.

I need to take a break. I'm getting too exited.

Probability definitely was on your side today

The change in drop quality was totally flooring when I downloaded v3.1.something some months ago however. I remember in the days of 2.x.x when I saw Feanor perhaps once, as compared to Bladeturner, Feanor, and Ringil in less than 700k turns on the one and only character I rolled on the newer version of V. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly feels unnatural to a veteran diablo 2 unique farmer like myself.

Remember that "looks like any other level" is the feeling you get when you didn't spend enough time on the previous level. It doesn't say anything about the quality of the new level, which given that there was a vault would probably have been decent.

I can't remember seeing Feanor in 2.x.x time because for my experience it didn't exist (nearly two decades of playing without seeing it, found The One couple of times, when I finally found it my first thought was that I have found some new ego that has been introduced to game).

You are right that they seem to be more common now. I have found Feanor about three times in 3.1 and newer.

Can't say anything about Ringil though. I have had RNG anomaly before, in 2.8.3 or so time I found it in nearly every game for quite a long time. It was nearly as common as Thorin to me.

I know. I was reading those deep decent scrolls in a row, stopping only because those monsters were visible in ESP. I had still one scroll left, have I not seen that monster group I would have read it and lost that wonderful vault. Vault in question was "workaround" with two "8" blocks, but not one of those items were in those places.
