    YASD - gnime mage, almost a winner - r2038

    I'm posting this for those further inetrested in the new item distribution.

    ....and I almost had a mage winner ... obviously had to die by two consecutive nether breaths from charcharoth, which i thought i would be able to survive ... apparently not

    Anyway in this game i found a not excessive quantity of ego arrows, so ewert's new patch fixed everything. I tried to note in the player history when i found rods of particular importance, with the exception of speed (as being a mage i didn't need them). Also not too many ego dsm also, but enough to make things interesting, so that is fixed too imho.

    Although, could we please have a separate entry in the squelch menu for dsm as before? especially now that there are ego ones it seems relevant.

    EDIT: also, first time ever i find doomcaller! woohoo!

      With 26 !healing I would have been carrying them over CCW. Might have saved you.

      I haven't played the new distribution yet but I still think this is an absurd amount of healing. If people think this is better that's fine, but there seems to be a "make the game harder" crowd that is silent on a change that would appear to make the game substantially easier. I disagree with their premise but am surprised this doesn't have more resistance.

        This change has got a kind of weird consequences. It reduced amount of wearable items a lot, which in turn increased consumables a lot, and I think what we see here is result of earlier attempt to repair things (in wrong place) that now overshoots because everything else is in place.

        I agree that healing potions are no too common. Before change they were basically endangered species of consumables. But that was expected when you increase rarity of 75% of items that 25% gets suddenly a lot more common.

          Certainly I'd say that consumables are now too common. On the flipside, they used to be too rare. Somewhere in the middle would be good. ewert's gotten the message, though, so I'm sure this will be tweaked. As long as we don't go to a release version with the current rarities I won't get annoyed about it.

          Bebo: you needed more CON, man. 625 hitpoints is small-time stuff. Even given that, though, I tend to avoid the canine uniques. They're ravening badasses, especially Huan. If they show up in the final fight, I can just teleport them away.
