well, with Aqu i managed to get zero drops (whatever it was, it was squelched). With *Aqu* i managed to get twice a ring of power, and an interesting stack of artefacts. However, most of the time it's junk, and i guess i dont read the scrolls when i find them because i dont want to get junk.
In this last game, a Aqu was gave me a dungeon feeling 9 around DL30. i figured, if i read it now, i'll get a shield of elvenkind and a spear of slay evil, so i stashed until DL70. But i get what you are saying.Leave a comment:

You're not the only one that does this, and I'm not gonna say you're wrong, but you'll much more likely to get a useful item the earlier you read them. Reason being, all Acquirement does is guarantee an ego-item or better at the depth you read it at. In the late game you're swimming in ego-items. Early on you don't have as many. Given that the game difficulty curve roughly matches the player power curve from 2000' onwards (varying depending on class and dive speed of course), you're statistically more likely to get something that helps at all if you read them early.
Odds are you'll just get junk in any case.Leave a comment:

^dude, you got some messed-up sense of humor.
this run i've been stashing my scrolls. looks like the DL at which you read the scroll influences the result, same way that chests work. i thought of doing this with chests as well, and tried, but due to the massive weight of chests i found it practically impossible to do.Leave a comment:

We can do that with summoning spells instead.
Boldor, King of the Yeeks summons reinforcements! The Tarrasque breathes fire. Azog, King of the Uruk-Hai dies. Vecna, the Emperor Lich shrugs off the attack. You have died.
Boldor, King of the Yeeks moons you!Leave a comment:

As far as 1 in a million requests go, I thought this one was pretty good: http://angband.oook.cz/fun/jelly.phpLeave a comment:

Feature request: one in every million *Acquirement* uses should spawn every single remaining artifact in the game all at once.Leave a comment:

You bought a Scroll of *Acquirement* for 30000 gold.
[...]
You feel something roll beneath your feet.
You have no more Scrolls of *Acquirement* (j).
You see a Light Crossbow (x3).
You see a Long Sword (2d5).
You see an Iron Helm [7].
On the ground: an Iron Helm of Regeneration [7,+3].
You see a Long Sword (2d5).
On the ground: the Long Sword 'Ringil' (4d5) (+22,+25) <+10, +1>.
You see a Light Crossbow (x3).
On the ground: the Light Crossbow 'Cubragol' (x3) (+10,+14) <+10>.
No more speed problems ;-)Leave a comment:

the ring of adamant.
which you'd think is a great find, except i'm on randarts and this is essentially just a "ring of +4", and doesn't even come with +speed.Leave a comment:

Ringil?
I picked up vanilla again after a long hiatus, and I just had my first scroll of acquirement generate Ringil for me on level 33.
I'm ... not disappointed.Leave a comment:
