V3.1.2...
Some time back, came upon a greater vault. Its occupants were unpleasant, considering this was around L42 or so...Kavlax, Itangast, various and sundry nasties that weren't gonna be fun. BUT...reviewing the items, oh my, there's a Raal's in there. OK, THAT is worth pushing for, big time.
I got some help with it; I think some critter picked it up and ended up dropping it a lot nearer the entrance than it was originally. So, I grabbed it, and it was absolutely instrumental in clearing that vault; every spell in there, *except* Rift, was one I used with great alacrity.
So there I was, on L76. Big purple A...alone. OK, can't be Gabriel, cuz he won't be alone. Azriel. Oh boy, such fun. Bad, bad memories there. One HUGE issue is, my healing is practically non-existent...no !Healing or better. Hmm, can't stand going spell-to-spell with him.
Well, let's try Rift. BOOM! Shifted him right out into the hallway, how nice! Now he's got to walk back while I regen a bit, and he's got to move without being able to attack! (I was +37 speed.)
SWEET! BOOM, wait, wait, BOOM, wait, wait...
Took a while but he never really hurt me that bad.
So, L78...ohhh man, this time it's Gabriel. I hate Gabriel; MAJOR PITA. Good news...a =Speed +10 had dropped, replacing my +8, earlier. The other ring I was using was Barahir, as an improved =ResPoison. Fine, poison is not a threat...so use both =Speed. With Ringil, and a few other goodies...+39, then of course hasted. +49, nice speed advantage over him. Start by banishing all his escorts...kinda hate using my last Mass Banishment scroll, but this is too good an opening.
So a few MetSwarms to wear him down. He summons. Coupla more MetSwarms, doing decent collateral damage to his minions. Then start Rifting...AWESOME against a nasty group because they're getting scattered. LOVELY!
A Seraph ended up teleporting me away, but that let me set up a tunnel, with a full mana reserve to use with more MetSwarms to start with. Gabriel getting too close, OK, Rift him. Sent him away, left me some of the Archons and Seraphs to take out before he could get back.
Wasn't easy...but I got him! I did NOT want him around when it came time to deal with the deeper uniques who can summon other Uniques...that would be a major mess, if he suddenly popped in with all his buds.
