Relative newbie here...what depth should you not pass without poison resist? I went from 450 HP to -150 in one unavoidable hit

Also...seems like summoned monsters shouldn't get a turn right away...

AMHDs are native to dlevel 43
Drolems are native to dlevel 44

AMHDs can breathe for 616 resist brings that down to 205
Drolems can breathe for 733 resist brings that to 244

Having an enchantress summon and then get immediately breathed on sucks, but the lesson is not to bother with enchantresses.

hmm, maybe there was a turn in between the summon and the breath, since I couldn't see the enchantress at the time of summon, but I could when the AMHD breathed...I was just tapping the left key through a group of trolls and *bam* - dead.

After a similar earlier near-death encounter with a basilisk I added some code around the low hitpoint warning to ignore all input for 2 seconds...but that didn't help me here

If you are tapping through "-more-" messages, I recommend using spacebar, which won't take an action. Especially with a lot of hits in melee this is way safer than banging on the left key.
