    fuwafuwa

So I've never bothered to make a dump for a character before. This is mostly because previous chars have been played with modified edit files (or save scumming) and they were not legit. This one is real.

Basically, I'd never played rogue and was trying to learn how to semi-dive. Previous fuwafuwas died on lower levels from lack of speed, and lack of stats. This one spent more time bumming around stat gain levels. I just got the boots and am thinking of switching to Lumna + Hat of Seeing (for rblind). Also sticking on the ring of con instead of the ring of dam since I'll be doing less melee in diving. This gives me rNexus (lack of rNexus killed me in a previous game when I teleported into a room of hounds which promptly switched my strength and charisma.) One of the bows has rConf, should I carry it as a swap?

Yeah, so what do I take, and how fast can I dive? I set a limit of 1M turns so I'm getting to the point where I feel like I need to push it a little. Thanks.

If you dive, I'd do the following:

Swap your robe for your dwarven armor, more str/dex.
Keep the confu bow as a swap, kill confusers in melee.
When you can, drop the defender and get a better melee, but make sure you don't lose free action (other reason I said use dwarven)

Wear the ring of con +4 instead of damage, rings of damage don't affect bow shots, and at 3 shots/turn, it's safer to shoot from afar than melee.

Be on the look out for ESP, and detect monsters like there is no tomorrow! (Dinvis too!)

Dwarven cuts down SP by about 25% now. (A lot better than it was previously) Might be doable, but I'd need to buy staves of dinvis because I can't cast the spell. How important is dinvis with very good stealth? In other words, how many always awake, dangerous, invisible monsters are there?

And you're exactly right that I was using the defender for the free action. Haven't found any gauntlets (or boots) of free action, and was in fact wearing a ring of free action until I found that tulwar. (and was without free action for a *long* time)

I planned to switch out the ring of damage, since that was mostly to facilitate clearing pits for stat potions.

Ethereal hounds for once, but they aren't the worry since they are still a bit deeper.

Dreads are the thing you should be scared of.

Mostly undead, pack oriented, life draining, nether breathers. Nothing to worry about .

well fuwafuwa has about 560 hp now, do to some con improvements. She should be able to survive a turn of nether bolting from most monsters long enough to deep descent. Since most of those undead come through the walls, and fuwafuwa always avoids dark rooms, she should be able to escape these guys before they do too much damage.

The main issue is teleporting in a room full of them, which i guess is the same for any creature visible or not.

Nonetheless, I brought down a couple staves of dinvis and use them with the rest of my detections. down to about dlevel 50 and no problems so far.

fuwafuwa still alive. but since I'm new to this whole diving concept I'm wondering if I'm going to quickly. As in, I've had to avoid quite a few monsters on the last couple levels, although I've only needed to teleport a couple times, and TO a few annoying monsters like nightmares.

              new char-dump here.

Still no steady source of rconf.

Having major slot issues. Hopefully it'll clear up soon with some good finds. Dunno what to bring down. No kit seems satisfying right now, without the need for several swaps.

                Any help would be appreciated!

Just be patient. CL 40 is still very early to kill Sauron. With Tenser's, Scarabtrices, and Haste Self, you can kill plenty of monsters. Just expect that there are a lot that you need to evade. (That's what Stealth and wands of Teleport other are for.)

                    dump right after Sauron.

Haven't found any ammo worth beans against Morgoth. Looks like I might have to melee him. I'll poke around dlevel 99 some more for some...but not today.

fuwafuwa wins! dump immediately after Morgoth.

I managed to make my goal of under 1M turns handily.

Kobold rogues are fun. It took only 4 attempts to get a winner, and 2 of those 4 died pretty early. I found I was on edge a *lot*. That made me less likely to come to my usual methods of dying through carelessness.

                      Thanks everyone for the advices.
