    Quill, Part II

    First Quill died a gruesome death to the hands.. er skull.. of a skull druj. He was going very well, but hey, @'s die, and you make new ones right?

    This one is doing pretty well, found a lesser vault at level 20, killed the young red dragon inside who almost wrecked me, but I had rFire on my mace and a wand of lightning bolts which finally did him in. I almost was unable to break into the vault, none of my weapons could break Granite, and I left my Stone to mud wand at home right before I recalled down... Hah irony right?


    Oh well, found a -4,-4 Lance which I used to break in, got all 3 chambers of the [X] which had items, the last one was full of hummerhorns and I didn't want to deal with that clusterf***.

    Originally I was trying to get the cash for some dwarven armor in the shop, but the vault had free action boots and the armor shop had resistance armor,so yeah I'm nice and covered now. Time to dive till past hound depth.

    Best part: Boldor dropped a Heavy Crossbow of Extra Shots. YES.

    Whenever I post a dump, I seem to die soon after.

    Got trapped between a ton of dark hounds and a hill giant, kept drinking pots to break blind then to read a scroll to get out, wasn't working. Tried killing the giant, wasn't working.

    SPLAT.

      Newest Quill is going strong. Clvl 12, dlvl 15. I had found boots of speed +8 on level 10 on the floor. They are helping tremendously. (Que OOD poison breather now... it would be my luck too!)

          Yeah, I need to remind myself that I have escapes...
          I completely forgot about the staff, the wands, and that kind of thing. I guess thats really the thing that shows how noobish I am.

          But hey I'm doing better now!

          Latest dump below, I'm liking how things are turning out with this one. The speed adds so much to my survivability, I only had one close call, but even then I wasn't in too much danger.

          I want a good resist and rpois and im set for a good chunk of my life, starting the big dive for artifacts now though. I have plenty of escapes, although drops/black market has been mean and not giving any deep descent, tele level, or teleport scrolls.

            Promising character. Sell the BoSpeed +4 -- fast cash can make a huge difference early in the game.

            Also: a Ring of Damage would be better than that second Ring of Strength.

            Also: leave MB4 at home until you can cast Teleport Other and/or Haste self with a useful degree of success.

            Also: go buy a big stack of ?ID and use it. Relying on the spell is liable to get you killed. (You'll end up resting too much, and too many awake monsters will get generated.)

              I ended up with a rod of id, 2 of recall and 2 staves od *dest*. I was going great, clearing a line of light hounds at level 63 going to the nearby stairs and got netherbolted by an offscreen ringwraith. Oh well, going to try one more rogue or two then something else.

              Didn't sell stuff because both wep and armor shops were 5k gold each.

              It was late and I forgot to dump my char, any way to do that after death?

              One last thing, this death taught me to light up cooridors, if I had, I would have seen Din before he plastered me.

                New quill is doing well, nothing to special on him, except a long bow of extra might (+10,+10), does about 50 damage per normal arrow.
