Ridiculously easy defeat of Qlzqqlzuup (V)

See screenshot! I found him in a checkerboard room at 3950' and his first action was to fill the whole room with... energy and light hounds. OH NOES!!

I just sat there and beat the poor thing to death. He couldn't summon anything else because of course he'd filled up all the available space. I felt rather sorry for him. (The hydras, imp and giants weren't anything to do with him and in fact slept peacefully through the whole battle)

FYI: I also nailed Tselakus the Dreadlord on this level, and Feagwath was there too but I didn't dare to disturb him since I'd used up all my ammo on Tselakus. I've killed off 77 of the uniques so far. I think I might have a good chance at a win... crap, shouldn't have said that.

For a really easy kill go here: http://angband.oook.cz/screen-show.php?id=656
That character later won the game. Good sign for your character I'd say.

That would be nice. I'm a total roguelike newb and this guy is only my fourth character EVER (if you don't count two who didn't even get to the dungeon thanks to BSVs). None of my previous ones got past 1000', so everything I see down here is new. I was really worried about Qlzqqlzuup as I'd heard about chain-summons...

Heh, nice screenshot. I still think my fight was easier though, since I basically held down the attack button.

Shame I didn't think to take a proper screen dump...

EDIT: Whoa, just noticed the "32lvl OOD" thing. OK, you win, LOL.

Something else I just noticed: You seem to be playing with a really large font.. or a very tiny display. If this is vanilla this will seriously reduce the range of your detection spells, as well as increase the chance of getting an out of sight breath attack. Did you try one of the smaller fonts already?

So vanilla under windows still give detect spells range to screen edges, huh?
Someone should fix that... it can't be how its meant to be played?

And actually, I suspect he just needs to maximise the program window, that looks about right for the default size "cmd shell" style box...

And I normally play with it maximised, I just put it in a window to take a more comfortable screenshot.

Funny thing, when I spotted you'd made a post to this thread today, I clocked your nick and thought "I wonder if tara_h is a she".

Guess so, huh? Apologies, don't get many female *banders. My gf is a nethack addict, and if she's sat at my linux system, she has no issue with whiling away a few hours playing ADOM; but even she can't handle angband.
