My best early find.

I'm playing a human warrior (in Vanilla) for the first time. My first dive was going well--I found a dagger of *Slay Animal* on DL 5 and was levelling up really fast. Then, on DL 7, I read an un-IDed scroll ad got recalled to the surface. I had enough gold for a couple of WoRs but decided to take the stairs back down instead. I accumulated some new potions (I don't quaff un-IDed potions ever since I found that potion of Death on DL 5) and some other random stuff I found on the floor.

When I got to DL5, I had a Very Good feeling and figured it was worth snooping around a little. My inventory was getting full when I ran into Bullroarer. He went down easy, but I didn't have room in my inventory for all of his loot--so I waited my pseudo-ID to kick in on the stuff I already had. The soft leather boots I found on the floor earlier IDed as "excellent," so I put them on thinking "Yay! Free action!" Instead, a "Fast (+9)" appeared at the bottom of the screen! Yep, Boots of Speed +9 on the floor of DL 5.

These are the best boots of speed I've ever found--and I've done a *lot* of deep-level scumming for Morgy kits.

Note to self: Still need free action and see invisible.

A few days ago, I found a robe of elvenkind (rDisenchant) and an Amulet of the Magi (Telepathy), but I died by not having my hitpoint warning turned on from importing my settings from another character.

I'm being careful. On dl 25 Bolg dropped Metal Shod Boots of Speed (+9). So I actually got to upgrade my footgear I don't have see invisible or RPoison yet. Not sure how deep I can go withuot those. Probably playing it WAY too safe. Hit CL 30 mowing through a Troll pit at DL 28 last night.

I decided to take a break from killing Harrys in the current competition and started a Paladin.

Not really a power find but probably one of the fastest artifact finds ever!

With Holy Light and the phial makes it very easy to explore the dungeon. This dump also shows a slight bug in that it says I was level 6 when I found the phial but did not reach levl 5 until sometime later.

You have Boots of Speed +9 and you play up the defender and the rPioson while not even mentioning the boots???

well if you've read the whole thread he's already mentioned that he has found not one but two pairs of boots of speed, one pair leather the other metal shod...

Yup--those +9s are a dime a dozen.

I have found a couple Holy Avengers at dlvl 5-7 so far, but no boots of speed yet. This is kinda fun, but I still die too often

Found a Broadsword Holy Avenger ( 75% off ) in the shop (Hengband) after doing a few quick quests that give good money rings and selling off most of my gear i could just afford it, even running around the dungeons naked but for my eff off powerful blade the baddies fell like nothing......i ended up keeping it from lvl 12 until lvl 44.

With a Ninja you can get Sting before lvl 10 if you are careful...having so much stealth you just sneak straight into the quest and swipe it....you can keep it for a long long time too.

Not dead yet. Had a couple of scares cracking open a checkerboard vault with no detection somewhere around DL 35. A Great Hell Wyrm could have toasted me but didn't. Later in the same vault, I opened up a cell and saw a white C, thought to myself--oh a little puppy! Stepped forward to attack and realised as I hit the key--Oh crud, that might be the Wolfhound of Valor!!! Nope, regular old white wolf.

I fianlly maxxed my stats when Dwar dropped a Potion of Augmentation.
