My current character has been rather lucky so far (I'm playing Vanilla). He's a warrior and found a defender main gauche on the floor at 250' and now he's just found a poison res ring at 500' on the floor again. Handy stuff for a warrior (particularly the weapon being nice and light).

Two of my recent characters were also lucky finding a ring of rpoison way before 1000'.
Sometimes the RNG is generous - OTOH both of them are dead.
