    Lucky start!

Paladin it is again. I found the stairs to lvl 2 and, equipped with many oil flasks, went down in the hopes of finding Bullroarer. In the first room I was happily surprised to see a yellow ~. Equipping it revealed +5 int (!), which, alas, isnt useful to me, but the other rune which I eventually identified turned out to be FA. Hurrah!

Level 4 had a cloak of stealth (+3) lying about and I bought a sling of extra might (x3) (+9, +11) on my first return trip to town.

Eventually I found Bullroarer (he is usually accompanied by evil blue "h"s which show up on the paladin detection) and he dropped a battle axe of *slay demon*, not great but still an upgrade to my starting dagger at 24 damage/round.

Level 15 then was the next hit - first, the yeek dad dropped another phial, and this time with +4 wisdom. Better, as meanwhile I have found both a ring and boots of FA.
Then, while chasing down his son, I picked up a hard leather cap (??). After Orfax croaked (no notable drop), I equipped it to identify - a cap of Telepathy!

Returning back home I spotted a main gauche of slay undead (+7,+10) at the weaponers which I could barely afford, so damage is up to 50 now. I guess I am set.

Only rogues can steal, so no worries.

That is indeed much better; consider leaving the elven mail at home to save on weight.

Let us know what the shield does as you find out.

The shield also had rNether. Very soon after I actually found a heavier <+2> Elvenkind armor with rNexus. (-2) [45,+13]

                Slowly but surely my friend

                We're up to 5.2 blows a round
                796 vs demons
                527 vs. non-cold-resistant/giant
                257 otherwise

Still haven't found a potion of strength! (or augmentation or draught of the ents)
