My best try at PosChengband 7.0.0's nightmare-mode on Angband.live:

If I'm offline I'm probably in the middle of maintaining Gentoo or something-Linux or other.

I'm enjoying the album 'A Humdrum Star' by GoGo Penguin at the moment, kind of jazzy post-rock I guess. Also going over Saint Etienne and Christy Moore's back catalogues, and on the techno front, Blawan's latest record ('Nutrition') is pretty good too!

Caught a music documentary on Netflix called Searching for Sugar Man. Pretty cool story about an extremely gifted songwriter/musician who toiled anonymously in the US but unknowingly was hugely influential in South Africa.

It's fairly raw psytrance, Infected Mushroom - overmode. Anyway it comes with a puzzle. The sound-bite at 4:15 is which movie?

Edit: Same album. Psycho. movie sound-bite at 5:01

I'm looking for music like Dwarf Fortress music. I prefer mellow music when playing Angband. Nothing fast, or much percussions (unless it's doom... doom... doom... in the dark once in awhile, and a bunch of cave orcs go scrambling). It would be great to find such music on Spotify. I have searched for acoustic guitar and Spanish guitar but nothing in my searches has come close to the wonderful music of Dwarf Fortress. Most everything I find is too high energy, or too fast, etc.

How are you with traditional Irish music? Maybe check out Lunasa. Some of it might be too upbeat based on your description though.

If you don't mind lyrics, there's a ton of really great Americana that I would consider great and mellow. John Prine, Gillian Welch, Tom Waits, recent Bob Dylan

So for some reason, Merle Hazzard* came to mind, in particular "That Old Atonal Music". I just had to listen again, and laughed just as hard this time around.

                      * obvious economic-bluegrass pun. (That's Merle's usual genre, as the video makes clear.)

Not related to Angband but a song I discovered in October that I really like; sorta has an indy sound I guess:
