Yeah, the 99% off is to prevent players from making money by buying a bunch of average arrows cheap, crafting them and selling them back; the game assumes no one's going to do that with ego items, and that the profits will be minimal or nonexistent if someone does try.

Yeah. You can't equip stuff on your mount. All your equipment effects are gonna come from absorbing jewelry.

Wands of haste/heal monster are very important.

If you look closely, it's a mount for a ring. Stuff that works for cavalry works for the ring. You can't equip it same as you can't equip a horse. You can probably haste it with a wand of haste same as you'd do with a mount but I'm not sure. I barely play them.

You can equip monsters on Possessors but not Rings.

Thanks for the tips. So I'm giving the Ring race another shot. I managed to take control of a named unique I think (Brodda the easterling). How do I equip him? It seems like he has no gear equipped. Or do monsters not use equipment like players?

The big issue with Macros in PCB-likes is getting them triggered by stuff like genocide. So use keymaps instead for letters. I often use F1-F4 buff spells, F5-F8 bolt spells, F9-12 ball spells, but it depends on what I'm playing. Also never Macro any key you use interacting with the macro menu, that'll cause you a lot of hassle.

Is this a vanilla angband thing or can it be done in FCB too? Also, is there a way to save all of my current games birth and other options automatically or do I need to manually edit a prefs file?

Unrelated, but does anyone have any good macros to share? I haven't even touched the macro function and not sure what can be done with it. Would it be possible to setup macros to kind of auto explore for you? (kind of spoiled from all the DCSS and ADOM i've played.)
The stat/level info was originally on the left, but it needs to be on the right now because there are multiple message lines, and for various reasons message lines look very ugly if they don't start at the extreme left. Vanilla's single message line fits above the statistics, so both it and the statistics can be at the left, but with multiple message lines that no longer works.

If you start a game by loading a previous dead character's savefile it will also load the dead character's options, which you can then modify. The only downsides are that 1) you gain some of the dead character's memories, notably monster lore, which makes the game slightly easier and 2) it only works if the old character is dead. (This is how all games are started on angband.live, so if you play there this always happens.)

Macros are used in different ways by different players but commonly they're things like "F1 - commonly used spell or device; F2 - different commonly used spell; F3 - another commonly used spell"; so instead of typing maa for magic missile every time you can just press F1 (some players even include "target nearest monster" in the macro). Macros need to be used with some care though, because they can have unintended effects in situations where the command doesn't fully work as expected.

FrogComposband doesn't support autoexplore but you can certainly macro things like "map area", "detect everything" or "travel to interesting object" (not sure I'd necessarily recommend macroing that one, though...); and Gwarl has a "melee nearest monster" macro you can apparently sit on to clear orc groups really fast, though it's also an easy way to get killed really fast.

compliments nature in a number of ways, you get:

magic missile (saves ammo vs weak enemies)
    arcane binding!! (very good spell!)
    teleport self and teleport other

some of the big attack spells get sort of redundant, but if you level up far enough and kill the diamond dragon you can make yourself a diamond edge of chaos, which isn't bad.
    Thank you!
My Rangers have a tendency to die miserably in their 30's, LOL Maybe a little Chaos will do them good.

    Ah! Thanks!
I was trying the Daemon realm, one I never usually use. The corpses must be for a summons spell I am guessing. All my other Rangers use Nature almost 100% so the second school is kind of a throwaway.

I don't think the Mogaminator (or any other autopick rule) automatically preserves corpses for rangers.

Are you actually a balrog or an imp? Or a nature/daemon ranger (in which case the daemon realm would cause the corpses to be kept)?

Yeah, I've been playing a Ring race with No Selling on (maybe I should just turn it off, though it makes getting supplies at the start a lot easier) and a lot of the early mid-game feels like hunting down jewelry for enough resistances and decent spells... mostly off of the black market. So, I need lots of cash.

On another note, are spell damage boosting jewelry supposed to not do anything for Rings?
