On another note, I possessed Kenshirou on version 3.3.5 and I noticed that he no longer has a weapon/shield slot...did he ever have those slots? -
The main reasons for exploring outside are to travel to other towns, look for dungeon entrances, and to kill monsters for leveling up.
Throughout the wilderness, you will occasionally find encounters. An encounter can appear as a ruin, wilderness hut (looks like a house), thieves den, structure with a monster group, castle-like encounter loaded with high-level paladins, or an entrance to a random dungeon.
And yes, there are dungeons where you're more likely to find stat potions...namely: Lonely mountain. But, in my own experience, stat potions tend to show up much more after dlvl 45 or 50 in various dungeons, including the one I tend to frequent - the Glass castle.Leave a comment:

is there a reason to explore outside? Outside of the outpost i found a house with a chest. I dont know if there is much stuff you can find that is not marked.
i saw somewhere that people go to certain dungeons for stat gains. does that mean hoping to find stat potions?Leave a comment:

You get a stat gain every 5 levels, and whenever you kill a dungeon guardian. If you are playing cautiously, you will likely max your stats before you kill most guardians.Leave a comment:

I have been googling around about 'fame'. Not really sure what it does. Anyone know?
how do level/stat gains work? For the first 20 levels, I get a stat gain every 5 levels. Then after that I seem to get them more often. I dont see this in the documentation.Leave a comment:

! indicates "potion of" because it is the ascii character for a potion. Same for ? (scroll), _(staff), -(rod), etcLeave a comment:

A lot of breaths will mutate you (radiation, chaos?, toxic waste), as will eldritch horrors.
Go to Zul (the town surrounded by mountains, you need levitation) and there's a cure mutation service at one of the towers.
!new life will do it too, but that will also reroll your stats and life rating which can be... disadvantageous.Leave a comment:

Normally the @ column indicates stats conferred inherently by race or class.
edit: hugo commented on your dump with the answer: you picked up a mutation that reduces strength. Go and get that removed ASAP!Leave a comment:

is this a bug? Level 26 vampire/ninja
I put on a cloak of merry and it lowered my Str from 18/10 to 14. I get that. I took it off. I have dropped it. I am now showing as having 15 STR. When I press
'C' -< n<next> and cycle to my stats. I see -4 under 'E' which I take to mean 'equipment'. The equipment item its under is the '@' sign. I have taken off all my items and dropped all my items. Still at 15 Str. I try to restore my strength nothing. My strength is not showing as yellow for drained.
I can't figure out why my Strength is still lowered by -4. What is the '@' sign on the stats screen? I have no items in my posession. My stats are not drained. The -4 is under the 'E' for requipment.Leave a comment:

Well, damn. I wish I knew this when I was on my countless other (dead)mage builds.
I found a funny thing, dual wielding a mage staff and a primary weapon. Sure, I need to train dual wielding, but the idea of a guy using a wizardly staff and broadsword in unison is amusing.Last edited by Tulip; October 13, 2014, 11:50.Leave a comment:
