Acutally, I wouldn't dare to imply that anything is a bug, because I'm constantly confusing variants, and some things which appear odd to me are actually Working As Designed.
    E.g.
    # a random char is only drawn from the standard races (Man o' Bree, Wood-Elf, Hobbit, Dwarf, Dunadan etc.), even when all races are available ?
    # a deadfall trap ("appears on dunguon level 8") appears in Maggoths Cellar [3], giving enough XP on disarming for a lvl 4 Haradrim Thief to advance to Lvl 6 ?
    # thieves seem to have good disarming, but only bad searching?

So I don't really know what's so unfriendly 'bout asking if something is WAD , especially as I'm just continuing a list that I started some time ago in a post where I explained exactly what I just wrote (again).

    Is it WAD ...
    • a torch/lantern is extinguished when passing over the stone bridge in Hobbiton ?
    • the small goods store in Hobbiton buys bolts and arrows, but not "Rounded Pebbles (1d2) {average}" ?
    • a random char is only drawn from the standard races (Man o' Bree, Wood-Elf, Hobbit, Dwarf, Dunadan etc.), even when all races are available ?
    • a deadfall trap ("appears on dunguon level 8") appears in Maggoths Cellar [3], giving enough XP on disarming for a lvl 4 Haradrim Thief to advance to Lvl 6 ?
    • 1 "large Yellow mushroom patch Spore" takes its own quiver slot when (w)ielded, next to "2 large Yellow mushroom patch Spores" - until I pick up "2 large Noxious mushroom patch Spores", at which point I get the message "You combine your quiver" ... and the yellow spores combine into 1 slot ?
    • self-knowledge list "Your race effects you. It provides resistance to fear. It marks you as a man. Your equipment effects you. It provides resistence to fear. It marks you as a man." ... for a Haradrim with non-magical starting equipment. Guess it's the same like the teleport ring above, and therefore already fixed in SVN ?!
    • thieves seem to have good disarming, but only bad searching?

IMHO this does not makes sense, 'cause
    • it's inconsistent UI behaviour
    • bards learn songs at their whim, while priests get their spells granted from their deity (If there are dieties and priests in Middle Earth is questionable, but should be discussed elsewhere)
    • sometimes you don't want to learn the spells in the given order, or at all, unless the song(spell) list of the books has been heavily changed (again). Prerequisites seem to be still in place, putting some restiction on the player anyway.

The messages are now less frequent in SVN. As for starting with cursed rings - blame Bandobras...

... that this cursed ring (which does not show "cursed" in the beginning, before pseudo-ID sets in) does not show up as option in the (t)ake off menue, making clear that it must be cursed?

... that all equipment that was there at start shows "It may burden you with random and uncontrolled activiation" ... not only the ring, but also quarterstaff and torch as well !!
Will have to fix. (Fixed in SVN).

... that bards learn spells like priests do (or was it always that way, and I'm confusing variants again) ?
Bards should always learn spells in order (similar to priests except the order of spells learned is fixed, not random).

... that bards are seemingly lousy fighters now? STR 17, DEX 15 .. fighting "bad" and not able to hit anything, therefore dying on the entry level of Maggots Farm to absolutly anything !!

... that the bard seems better at shooting than at throwing (again), yet he cannot use a shooter because he usually wields an instrument in this slot ?!
I may have changed the bows/throwing skill order. I'll double check. EDIT: I did. Fixed in SVN.

... that in the object recall window (term-5, in this case), the object description does not wrap, being show as 150 character long one-liner ..
Known problem. Not a trivial fix.

No. It should just work. I'm not sure why you're getting a breakage. Could someone mirror this build?

Hmm. Still no luck for me. I'm going here:

Which offers me two download locations:

    Which redirect me to:
    http://download.berlios.de/error/HTT...FOUND.html.var (download.berlios.de)
    Server timeout (download2.berlios.de)

Do I need to sign up for a Berlios account first?

It is good, though, that (at least in this case) the ring specialist (who cannot use shields without losing the 3rd ring) starts with a quarterstaff now. Really like it ... seems thematic for a bard on the tramp, and all.

female Dwarf, Bard, ring specialist (yes, I'm gonna restart that char from scratch - again )
Starts with CON 16, CHR 11.
Going from CHR 12 to 13 gives +1 spell point, and that's it (up to 18/16).
    CON is +1 spell points at 17, 18/16 and 18/28, 18/39 etc. 'til 18/63.
Yep. Mana from CON doesn't scale with level, whereas mana from your mana spell stat does.
