Should equipment display inventory letter when removed?

When I (w)ear an object that replaces an equipment slot, both the new item and the old item show their equipment slot letter. E.g:

You were holding a Lantern (f). Your light source is a Lantern of True Sight (f).

The two equipment slot letters will always be the same.

I think that it would be better to show the inventory slot taken by the old item, e.g:

You were holding a Lantern (s). Your light source is a Lantern of True Sight (f).

Then I could just drop or ignore the old item with "ds" or "^ds" without having to look at the inventory listing.
