Conversely, if you teleport Morgoth away, then he'll be back in a bit. So the only reason you'd teleport yourself away is if you need to get away from both Morgoth and someone else. In such situations, I prefer to use Phase Door, and rely on the fact that I fight in a Destructed area to mean that I'll be out of LOS of both of them after blinking. So far, so good.

Another note on teleport self. It is true that if you use it multiple times there is a risk you will land in an unsafe spot. However, after you teleported yourself you can just wait around for a few turns. The big M tunnels through walls, is really fast and seems to know where you are anywhere on the map. Meaning, if you just wait around after teleporting he will find you fairly quickly while most of the other baddies you teleported away from will stay where you left them.Leave a comment:

As a priest, assuming he has Wrath of God he can cast Banish Evil at 0% failure rate, which will teleport away all evil monsters in LOS, unique or not.
Teleporting away uniques is somewhat preferable to using Word of Destruction on them, as that way they can't get summoned again (though they may be able to wander back to the fight on their own). Try to avoid using Teleport Self or its equivalents, though; if you fill the rest of the level with teleported-away summons then you're liable to drop yourself next to them if you teleport.Leave a comment:

With Morgoth, always heal as soon as your HP fall below 600. Make sure it's zero-fail healing too. If there are other baddies around, you will need to heal sooner.Managed to send Sauron to the Endless Void. I'm going to try to gear up a bit more before taking on Morgoth. Thanks everyone for the advice!

You should do one of the following as soon as he summons nasties:
(1) Banishment/Mass banishment: don't affect uniques
(2) Teleport other on Morgoth, then *destruction* (does affect uniques)
(3) Teleport self or Phase door. Phase door becomes useful at breaking line-of-sight only after Morgoth hits you with his shatter (=earthquake) attack, or if you fight him in a destructed area.
Always use zero-fail options unless you are certain the baddies do not have the combined fire-power to take you down in one turn.
Good luck!Leave a comment:

Once Sauron is dead, there will always be stairs on 99 leading to 100, so there's no need for you go to Morgoth's lair just yet.Leave a comment:

Thanks guys. I took the advice and simply switched my necklace from Evenstar to +6 wisdom. 0% fail on everything including glyph is noticeably beneficial.
Went down to 99 last night and took out Witch King, and 3 remaining ringwraiths. I was able to find two +8 speed rings and a boots of speed +9, an improvement but not enough to dump one of the rings yet. Then I took on Sauron and was victorious.
I saved right after the battle next to the stairs. If I decide I want to hunt for a different rPois so I can equip Thorin, should I go down to 100 first then recall? What happens if I recall from 99 after Sauron is dead? Will the stairs to 100 be available on the new 99 when I come back?Leave a comment:

You don't really need more speed for the last fight, although finding a RoS +11 would allow you to swap out one of the +7 RoS for a ring of damage or something (maybe con), while maintaining the +30 speed.
How are you planning to kill him? I think I beat him to death with my priest; a slow and painful method. OoD or annihilation(?) prayer from WoG are alternatives.
I'd keep rPois just in case he summons a great swamp wyrm or the like.
When u fight Sauron (assuming you haven't already done so), make sure you have a source of rdisenchant, or keep him from H2H attack.Leave a comment:

if you don't mind grinding a little more, I think +7 speed rings are rather lousy for a char about to take on the big M, I think if you clean out a single mid sized vault somewhere between floor 90-98 odds are you will find a ring +11 or +12 speed. Then you can replace one of the speed rings or the speed boots by some other item that gives nice stats and still be fast enough. One of rings of power would seem a good choice and finding at least one of them is reasonably likely in deep vaults.Leave a comment:

Lose the book 1. You don't need it once you get clairvoyance from book 6. All the other spells in there are duplicated elsewhere or are not required. Saves some weight and gives important space in inventory. If any of you wouldn't mind taking a look at my dump and sharing any advice I would appreciate it.

6/7 actually. Morgoth doesn't do heavy nether damage anyway. All his bad attacks are unresistable. I would try to get Thorin in the equation though. More CON for about 200 more HP would help quite a lot. Problem is that he loses poison resist in that process.Hlife is fairly irrelevant for the end fight (unless you've dived REALLY hard).
Nether resist is also not that important for the purple P because a resisted nether attack can still do something like 85% of the full amount and so you have to treat it as a mana attack (i.e unresistable) anyway.
Resistance-wise none of them are important against Morgoth, only summons are a bit problem.Leave a comment:

Resistance to nether, for a priest, is not as important as 0% fail. With 0% fail you can cast your big healing spells guaranteed. And you don't care about Hold Life because you can always cast, um, I think it's called Remembrance? Anyway, you have a prayer that restores lost EXP.Leave a comment:
