I'm having a hard time having a feel of my gear.

I'm playing mage for the first time in months and I'm noticing that my character will not have a feeling for items. Is that wisdom related?

Mostly its playing-a-mage related. You get practically no pseudo-id but the good news is that you get actual-id-spell-id earlier than other classes.

Yes, I was aware of my early ID potential. Still, I thought it couldn't asking you guys!

Thanks for the quick reply, by the way.

Presuming you're playing 3.5. In this new version there are no sticky curses except on artifacts which get auto-id'd, so you can test wield any weapon or armor safely. Finding pluses and minuses only matter in combat. But you're a mage, so you don't really want to be in combat. All you should really be worrying about are resists and the +/- of the best launcher you can find. A lot of that shows up on wield.
