Newest nightly, and artifact generation chance seems to have been fixed. Never found a decent melee weapon, so made use of gloves with +1 shots; thankfully, I found enough slay evil/holy might ammo.
Used Eddies patented start to sell maggots drop and buy pb3 before going down. Took a couple tries to get there but after that it was smooth sailing for the most part. Almost died of hunger at one point; last unid scroll (it was a single one, no stack) turned out to be satisfy hunger. On the next levelup the gods got worried and gave me the spell
First pb3 found on dlvl 31 with pb5+6 already in possession.
Ironman + randarts is pure lotto regarding the decisions about what to keep and what to dump. For example, I had found early an amulet with big to hit/ to dam and not much else. Such an amulet is very likely to be the best option for the endgear, but when I found it I could neither use it (needed the wisdom from my current amulet) nor carry it so it got left behind. For ironman, I think it would make for more interesting choices if the artifact set was known beforehand.
